Efficient energy conversion from laser to proton beam in a laser-foil interaction

摘要: Demonstrated is a remarkable improvement on the energy conversion efficiency from laser to protons in laser-foil interaction by particle simulations. The total laser-proton becomes 16.7%, although conventional plane foil target serves rather low efficiency. In our previous study we found that Al multihole thin-foil was efficient for [Y. Nodera and S. Kawata, Phys. Rev. E 78, 046401 (2008)], 9.3%. 2.5-dimensional particle-in-cell simulations structure also employed, parameters of wing width length are optimized paper. present results clarify roles hole depth conversion. main physical reason enhancement reduction reflection at surface area. provides increase as shown above.
