摘要: Objective To determine concentrations of estrone sulfate in serum, urine, relaxin and progesterone serum pregnant llamas alpacas to assess the potential these hormones as pregnancy indicators. Design Prospective study. Animals 19 parous camelids (8 11 alpacas). Procedure Estrone (in urine) serum) were determined by enzyme immunoassay. Relaxin measured radioimmunoassay. Serum urine samples collected daily for first 30 days after breeding and, thereafter, once weekly until parturition. Results peaked twice during pregnancy. The took place 21 second last month increased at 3 months gestation > 20 ng/mL, decreased 5 then from 8 Progesterone detectable 4 maintained 2 ng/mL throughout Clinical implications increase concentration over basal values may indicate early interaction between mother embryo, whereas reflect fetal viability. Use diagnose is highly dependent on time sampling. a superior indicator Ilama alpaca because its existence suggestive fetus, are greater than long period not direct product embryo or fetus only indirectly confirms diagnosis
