摘要: The evolution of multicellularity provided new ways for biological systems to increase in complexity . However, although high levels have indeed been attained several multicellular lineages, natural selection does not necessarily favor complex systems. Why and how, then, has increased some lineages? We argue that the volvocine green algae (Volvox its relatives) are a uniquely valuable model system understanding complexity. Using general framework complexity, we discuss various morphological developmental achieved this group, consider both why how underlying changes took place group.
