Demonstration of some of the physiological properties of rat relaxin

摘要: Summary. Relaxin was extracted from the ovaries of pregnant rats. Material possessing uterine relaxing activity in vitro eluted three peaks Sephadex G.50 columns. The 'G3 peak' material eluting a position comparable to that porcine relaxin inhibited myometrial rats vivo, improved rate rise pressure intrauterine cycles and, when administered following progesterone and oestrogen priming, increased distensibility cervix vitro. This also stimulated inter-pubic ligament formation mouse. rat therefore exhibits biological actions similar those previously assigned relaxin.
