摘要: The aim of the study is to establish long-term foreign-body reaction a polypropylene mesh used for inguinal hernia repair in pig model. Twenty-two Surpipro® meshes were implanted 22 preperitoneal areas 11 female 10-week-old Yorkshire and Dutch landway swine. prosthetic was using laparoscopic transperitoneal technique. At 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 12 26 weeks, animals sacreificed number giant-cells at mesh-tissue interface counted. mean numbers (SD) after weeks were: 0.9 (2.4), 7.3 (5.4), 19 (8.2), 15.2 (7.9), 15.9 (6.9), 14.1 (5.6), 8.2 (4.7). significantly lower than 3 weeks. We conclude that giant-cell increases until third week implantation. Thereafter, it gradually decreases, six months persists half maximal level
