摘要: Abstract I surveyed the history of exotic pasture introductions in northern Australia to compare rate introduction useful species with that weeds. Between 1947 and 1985, 463 grasses legumes at least 2033 accessions were intentionally introduced into region, predominantly from Africa, Central South America. Of these, only 21 (5%) came be recommended as useful, while 60 (13%) became listed Seventeen plants fact also weeds, leaving 4 (<1%) without causing weed problems. They far outnumbered by 43 (9%) weeds but had no recorded use. cropping, 20 conservation 19 both sectors. Thirteen major crop Growth rate, maximum height, seed size, continent origin unrelated weediness. Good predictors weediness whether a plant was good performer trials, or persisted field site. In addition, more likely, less weedy than expected. It is argued new form assessment required before an released Australian environment plant. This would recognize successful almost certain become some situations, attempt assess net national benefit proposed introduction.
