摘要: Aberrant proprotein convertase (PC) activity is associated with human tumorigenesis. We recently determined that paired basic amino acid converting enzyme 4 (PACE4) expression greatly reduced in metastatic ovarian cancer cells compared to normal cells. Reduced PACE4 due epigenetic modification of the promoter, and can be stimulated by treatment demethylating agents histone deacetylase inhibitors. Stable re-expression produces cellular senescence or survival. Preliminary evidence from mutant mice strongly suggest loss production results abnormalities, including fertility, premature follicle structures, abnormal cell morphology features reminiscent tumors
