摘要: Colonoscopy is the gold standard test in diagnosis of colorectal cancer. Despite this, many people across world decline procedure when invited for screening, surveillance or diagnostic evaluation. The aim this review was to characterise barriers and facilitators colonoscopy use described qualitative literature. We searched PubMed PsychInfo studies that explored use. To determine eligibility studies, we first reviewed titles, then abstracts, finally full paper. started with a narrow search, which expanded successively, until number new publications eligible after abstract <1% total identified. Papers were if they: 1) focussed on an adult population, 2) used research design and, 3) at least one patient-related theme regarding extracted data from papers analysed using thematic synthesis. Fifty-seven met inclusion criteria. Most screening (n=53, 93.0%) conducted USA (n=48, 84.2%). Key psychological social factors included: 'fear pain discomfort', 'concerns about doing bowel preparation', whether recommended by patient's physician. practical included cost, covered healthcare insurance. Studies mostly USA, where there no universal coverage. better understand other contexts, further needed.
