摘要: Torrent frogs of the genus Petropedetes Reichenow, 1874 as currently understood have a disjunct distribution with species endemic to West, Central or East Africa. We herein present phylogenetic analysis including all but one described 12 genus. Maximum Likelihood and Bayesian analyses combined nuclear (rag1, SIA, BDNF) mitochondrial (16S, 12S, cytb) genes more than 3500 base pairs, revealed clades corresponding three sub-Saharan regions. Molecular results are confirmed by morphological differences. Surprisingly, geographic do not form monophyletic group respect closely related families Pyxicephalidae Conrauidae therefore require taxonomic changes. resurrect Arthroleptides Nieden, 1911 for African taxa. The taxa remain in Petropedetes. West members placed new Odontobatrachus gen. nov. position remains incertae sedis it was assigned any four included our analyses. Potential been detected within major clades, pointing still fully clarified diversity torrent frogs.
