摘要: Rapid analysis of drugs in emergency room overdose patients is critical to selecting appropriate medical care. Saliva has long been considered an attractive alternative blood plasma for this application. However, current clinical laboratory methods involve extensive sample extraction followed by gas chromatography and mass spectrometry, typically require as much one hour perform. In effort overcome limitation we have investigating metal-doped sol-gels both separate their metabolites from saliva generate surface-enhanced Raman spectra. We have incorporated the sol-gel a disposable lab-on-a-chip format, generally no more than drop required. The detailed molecular vibrational information allows chemical identification, while increase scattering six orders magnitude or detection microg/mL concentrations. Measurements cocaine, its metabolite benzoylecgonine, several barbiturates are presented.
