摘要: Abstract In a critical examination of the modified Nelson-Somogyi method for reducing sugars proposed by Somogyi in 1952, following were established: 1. The blue complex absorbs maximally at 750 mμ, but full color development this wavelength is only achieved after 1.5 hr. 2. For maximum reduction copper reagent fructose, glucose, and arabinose heating periods 5, 20, 25 min, respectively, are required, data presented which indicate that each worker ascertain required time under his experimental conditions. 3. A constant ratio to sugar solution must be used volume arsenomolybdate should not less than half reagent. 4. difficulties experienced working wavelengths longer 500 mμ can attributed changes absorption spectrum colored obtained when increasing amounts determined, these eliminated used.
