摘要: We have compiled the distribution of active faults and folds in Himalayan-Tibetan orogen its immediate surrounding regions into a web-based digital map. The main product this study is compilation structures that came from those documented literature our own interpretations based on satellite images topographic data. Our tectonic map allows comparison between kinematics with focal mechanisms earthquakes. also compared contemporary velocity field, obtained by global positioning system studies, better assessment partitioning decadal strain-rate fields across individual may taken tens thousands years to million develop. provides basis evaluate whether syncollisional late Cenozoic volcanism Tibet was spatially related development same area. These comparisons lead following findings: (1) Tibetan earthquakes >M5 correlate well mappable surface faults; (2) short-term field correlates known their geologic slip rates; (3) Neogene–Quaternary controlled major strike-slip along plateau margins but has no clear relationship interior. Although not explored study, can be used geology geophysical properties such as seismic variations shear wave-splitting data Himalaya Tibet.
