Science Mapping of the Global Knowledge Base on Microfinance: Influential Authors and Documents, 1989–2019

摘要: The use of microfinance in poverty alleviation and, by extension, as an instrument for sustainable social and economic development, represents a novel idea finance. This study employed science mapping to examine 4049 Scopus-indexed documents explicitly concerned with microfinance. goals the review were document distribution literature type, volume, time, geography, identify influential authors, articles, potential intellectual structure this knowledge base. first research was conducted 1989, but field attracted increased attention only after 2006, when Nobel Peace Prize awarded pioneer Muhammad Yunus. does not find any single dominant school thought microfinance, rather identified three thematic clusters: (1) concentration on institutional aspects (2) scholars who used sophisticated methods evaluate impact (3) groundbreaking related justice more generally. As first-ever, comprehensive bibliometric provides benchmarks against which assess future evolution literature, reference entering domain, targets development sustainability scholarship.
