摘要: The degree to which glaucoma has effects beyond the eye - in brain is unclear. We investigated white matter microstructure (WMM) alterations 37 tracts of patients with glaucoma, monocular blindness and controls. used reproducible methods advanced cloud computing platform brainlife.io. White were subdivided into seven categories ranging from primarily involved vision (the visual matter) cognition motor control. WMM both blind subjects was lower than controls matter, suggesting neurodegenerative mechanisms due reduced sensory inputs. In participants differences decreased outside matter. A test-retest validation approach validate these results. pattern results different participants, where properties increased as compared suggests that whereas loss input might promote reorganization early system, such be or absent glaucoma. provide indirect evidence unknown factors limit plasticity other patient groups follow loss.
