摘要: Research into the use of neural prosthetic devices to treat paralysing disorders is expanding rapidly. Functional electrical stimulation muscles now used activate electrically paralysed restore movements such as hand-grasp. Sensory feedback signals recorded from peripheral nerves are improve control functional systems. may also be stimulate circuits in spinal cord. Electrical recordings brain will soon patients' prostheses. Non-invasive electroencephalographic can currently move a cursor across computer screen. The restoration near-to-normal limb movement will, however, require large numbers neurons within brain. Preliminary feasibility has been demonstrated experimental animals.
