摘要: Hyperhomocysteinemia has been considered a risk factor for neuropsychiatric disorders, but the mechanisms involved in this process have not completely elucidated. The aim of study was to analyze influence hyperhomocysteinemia induction by methionine supplementation considering different levels and periods exposure mice. For purpose, at concentrations 0.5 1% were administered water increase homocysteinemia male C57BL/6 mice, maintained 3 time (2, 4 6 months treatment). results from one-carbon metabolism parameters, brain-derived neurotrophic (BDNF) behavioral evaluation compared. 0.5% efficient increasing plasma homocysteine after 2 months. supplementation, increased 2, Little observed cysteine glutathione concentrations. Frontal cortex BDNF showed lack treatment all periods; only expected decrease due age observed. Moreover, alteration using novel object recognition task that which with age. We found responses varied based on how it reached, length toxicity. can affect normal pattern one carbon during These findings allow establishment reliable animal model studies field.
