摘要: The Garry Oak Ecosystem (GOE) is a fragmented and endangered ecosystem in Canada, currently the focus of conservation restoration efforts British Columbia. However, little known about basic biology GOE forbs, or their relationships with pollinating insects. We monitored wildflowers insect visitors 25 quadrats within × metre plot, located fragment near Duncan, Columbia, for six weeks (the majority flowering period). Overall, 21 native non-native forb species flowered our during survey, we observed an additional outside quadrats. Eight forbs were visited by total 13 taxa, identified to morphospecies. Visits eight morphospecies In general, visitation was low; however, most visiting more than one plant species, morphospecies, suggesting that pollination may be generalised this community. A Chi-squared analysis indicated not proportional relative abundance higher expected Common camas ( Camassia quamash ), no visits 11 very small (putatively unattractive) flowers. frequent visitor introduced Honeybee, Apis mellifera , followed mason bees Osmia spp.) mining Andrena spp.). Our observations provide baseline data future, detailed studies should investigate importance plant-pollinator mutualisms sustainability populations communities rare ecosystem.
