摘要: In addition to managing the most challenging of airways within operating room environment, anesthesia providers are frequently consulted or requested participate in emergency airway control various areas hospital, often after other have failed. The following is a case report premature infant born with multiple and life threatening congenital anomalies rural facility. current recommendations American Heart Association for neonatal resuscitation were followed; however, resuscitating team was unable secure using standard intubating techniques. Consultation anesthetist on duty resulted successful placement laryngeal mask (LMA) size 1. pediatrician involved care patient had minimal experience LMA; verbal instruction able successfully place LMA. With patent established, stabilized transferred tertiary facility aggressive care. Although currently not part algorithm, consideration LMA as tool manage an failed attempts at intubation may be appropriate.
