摘要: HIV-1-associated neurocognitive disorders (HAND) affect almost 30-50% of infected individuals, even in the presence successful control virus replication by combined antiretroviral therapy (cART).HIV Tat protein, a nuclear trans-activator viral gene transcription, that is secreted cells and can be taken up neighboring cells, present various tissues despite cART, has been shown to break down integrity blood-brain barrier (BBB). This, turn, leads disruption neovascular unit, affecting functioning brain microvascular endothelial as well astrocytes. Pericytes, yet another important constituent BBB, play critical role maintenance BBB. Loss pericytes resulting BBB observed several pathologies including HAND. Furthermore, while PDGF-BB essential for pericyte generation, paradoxically, high concentrations lead loss tumor vessels. In this research highlight, we provide brief review our recently published finding, which have demonstrated novel HIV-Tat mediated migration pericytes, leading ultimately coverage from endothelium, with subsequent breach These findings underpin mechanism disrupted
