Use of Chemical Admixtures in Roller-Compacted Concrete for Pavements

摘要: Use of roller compacted concrete (RCC) for pavement applications is growing in the United States. This material offers great technical and economic benefits, however there insufficient research done to understand it better. The drier consistency lack adequate paste RCC makes its fresh behavior very different from other types concretes. also leads challenges characterizing properties adequately be translated practice. use chemical admixture has not been studied detail before hence an apprehension using them. What further aggravates problem multiple mixing technologies used producing RCC. attempts resolve some these problems. workability considered constituted by cohesion, compactibility, segregation resistance, retention workability, water reduction consistency. Each was characterized a test method. These include vibrated slump test, direct shear as soils, gyratory compaction asphalt industry. Furthermore, ten most widely admixtures were tested typical mixture. reducers, retarders, air entraining agents dry cast industry products. For each product types, formulations selected evaluate comparative performances. It observed that individually distinct benefits improves including changing setting finishibility. Moreover, given mixture, improvement composite function components viz. consistency, reduction, type dosage. Finally, set recommendations are offered along with precautions taken individually. anticipated this work will lead better characterization greater confidence.
