Time to 're-think' physical activity promotion for young people? Results from a repeated cross-sectional study.

摘要: The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between knowledge current UK physical activity (PA) guidelines and amount daily PA using a sample population 11–16 year olds in Northern Ireland. Cross-sectional survey data from 2010 2013 Young Persons’ Behaviour Attitudes Survey 10,790 young people provided information on PA, socio-demographic characteristics. Multinomial logistic regression used associations PA. Results showed 67.0% respondents were aware with 15.4% reporting meeting them. Males more likely meet than females (OR 3.36, 95% CI 2.47, 4.59). who active for 60 min or more, 7 days per week less be (OR = 1.51, 1.02, 2.24). For females, had no significant association (OR = 1.74, 0.99, 3.07). Those did not enjoy being (OR = 0.05, 0.02, 0.12). Knowledge appear an important predictor people. Consequently, threshold based messaging containing recommended minimum guideline may appropriate age group. Re-branding promotion include use humour offer new direction public health around fun enjoyment.
