摘要: Two young men stand on the threshold of an all-male brothel, unable to bring themselves enter. Unable decide, perhaps, if they can trust each other's complicity enough risk adventure together. "Quoi! Apres tout s'en fiche?" says one men, over and over, apparently addressing some aspect their situation at threshold. The "quoi" itself is given exclamation point rather than a question mark; it seems be clearly interrogative, more simple sound-expressive need for there not silence, perhaps perpetuate possibility entering. And then half-interrogative sentence: "Apres After all, what does matter? What matter whether or we go in? happens do you are as good friend I think are? know about matters me? that can't quite say want have sex with man? This scene from Le Temps retrouve somehow paradigmatic difficulty queer sexual expression in Proust. narrator Recherche understands much, launches into intriguing analysis going here:
