摘要: Water flooding of oil reservoirs has been performed for a century in order to improve recovery two reasons: (1) give pressure support the reservoir prevent gas production and (2) displace by viscous forces. During last 30 years, it was discovered that wetting properties played very important role efficiency water flood. Even though much work have published on crude oil–brine–rock (CBR) interaction related properties, Professor N.R. Morrow, University Wyoming, asked audience following question at European enhanced oil-recovery (EOR) meeting Cambridge, April 2011: Do we understand reservoirs? If are not able explain why injection fluids different ionic composition can great impact displacement recovery, answer Morrow’s is NO. Researchers admit do know phenomena well enough. The key our understanding obtain fundamental chemical CBR controlled laboratory studies, then propose mechanisms, which should be validated also from field experience. In this chapter, I tried sum up experience water-based EOR carbonates sandstones during 20 years with specific focus initial possibilities wettability modification optimize recovery. Chemically, completely sandstones. proposed mechanisms used observations.
