摘要: ABSTRACT: The use of non-native varieties English in new literatures poses a challenge finding suitable media for the expression social realities. Creating style ranges appropriate national sensibilities and experience, particularly those multilingual societies, is part challenge. present study discusses major directions taken by Sri Lankan fiction 1980s developing adequate ranges. Four works published are discussed to outline directions. Styles used them narrative, description, serious discourse, speech reflection thought discussed. Problems nomenclature, metaphor, idiom simile also considered. four here demonstrate slow development literature towards an expressive medium. They represent some problems negative aspects this progress, but illustrate positive signs growth.
