摘要: Abstract Background “Krokodil” or “Crocodile” is an illegal homemade desomorphine drug obtained from chemical reactions of commercial codeine drugs with several other powerful and highly toxic agents increasing its addiction hallucinogenic effects when compared morphine analogues. Methods This paper summarizes a complete review about old called (Krokodil), presenting chemistry, pharmacology, metabolism, toxicology analysis. Results It particular interest concern because this cheaper injectable semisynthetic opioid has been largely used in recent years for recreational purposes Eastern European as well North South American countries, despite known damage to health that continuous use might induce. These injuries are much stronger more aggressive than morphine’s, infecting rotting skin soft tissue the bone addicts at point injection less three years, which, most cases, evolves death. On basis, it imperative literature reviews focus on analysis dangerous Krokodil find strategies rapid effective determination mitigate adverse prevent consumption. Conclusions crucial know symptoms consequences Krokodil, identification quantification desomorphine, contaminants metabolites, which can help forensic work diagnosis propose actions control eradicate great danger public around world.
