Turkey Muscle Growth and Focal Myopathy

摘要: Abstract Muscle structure and blood enzyme activity were studied to 16 wk of age in lines turkeys selected for rapid growth. The body carcass weights measured, frozen sections breast leg muscles examined, plasma creatine kinase (CK) levels determined. usually proportional BW except the relatively larger superficial pectoralis (SP) most rapidly growing line. Damaged muscle fibers found all especially SP breast, gastrocnemius (GA), other leg; these damages became more common from 10 age. There degenerating higher CK than a slower unselected findings support idea that focal myopathy, unrelated deep pectoral myopathy or inherited muscular dystrophy chicken, is associated with growth turkeys.
