摘要: The bivalve mollusc Scrobicularia plana (da Costa) is very common in the estuaries of South-West England and lives permanent burrows intertidal sediments ranging from soft mud to fairly hard sand sometimes gravel. Although it obtains some its food by filtering overlying water, mainly a deposit feeder (Hughes, 1969). In addition widespread distribution, has several features which make attractive as possible indicator organism for metallic contamination. It more tolerant low salinities than most estuarine bivalves, usually penetrating farther upstream Macoma balthica, Mytilus edulis Cerastoderma edule (Percival, 1929; Spooner & Moore, 1940; Bryan Hummerstone, 1977). Also, over ten years, attaining length 4–5 cm, rate growth can be estimated rings on shell (Green, 1957; Hughes, 1970).
