摘要: Five imidazoles (clotrimazole, econazole, ketoconazole, miconazole, and tioconazole) in clinical use were compared for their ability to inhibit kill Candida albicans. Eleven isolates obtained from patients before therapy. By spectrophotometric determination of 50% growth inhibition, all inhibited at low concentrations, with clotrimazole slightly less active than the other four drugs. conventional MIC determination, tioconazole was more others (P 0.01) except clotrimazole. In killing (minimum fungicidal concentration [MFC] assay), most by several analyses. Studies kinetics indicated that drugs studied could under conditions used MFC ketoconazole particularly rapidly. If drug washed cells subculturing, concentrations above required kill, but produce a lethal lesion virtually instantaneously. These findings are pertinent methodology observation persistence after topical application. The results differ some previous vitro comparisons made different methods. They relevant conclusions about mechanisms based on abilities they underscore need study various assay methods fungal species.
