摘要: This prospective study examined the usefulness of seven selected variables from Jessor and Jessor's problem behavior theory in predicting future smoking levels adolescent experimental smokers. Experimental smokers were identified through a survey 2,550 seventh- eighth-grade students assessing subjects' current as well responses to variables. Twelve months later entire sample was resurveyed assess subsequent subjects initially reporting smoking. who responded both surveys (n=225) present study. The full model discriminant function significant discriminating between two groups; 68% correctly classified. moderately successful hit rate 24% better than what could be expected by chance. Increased had lower expectations for academic achievement, stronger beliefs about positive functions smoking, perceived more among their classmates close friends. Educational interventions are suggested.
