摘要: A high-speed photographic study has been made of the chip-tool interface and its evolution when cutting soft metals with optically transparent sapphire tools. The observed imaged at high spatial temporal resolution by using an optical system composed microscope a CCD camera. This enabled to be over range speeds between 1 mm/sec 1 m/sec. extent sliding along metal transfer tool surface are found have strong dependence on speed. characteristics appear unchanged these machined steel or aluminum Lastly, experimental method estimate temperature field entire is described. Preliminary results pertaining this presented.
