摘要: Mountain regions provide essential ecosystem goods and services (EGS) for both mountain dwellers people living outside these areas. Global change endangers the capacity of ecosystems to key services. The Mountland project focused on three case study in Swiss Alps aimed propose land-use practices alternative policy solutions ensure provision EGS under climate changes. We summarized synthesized results insights into ecological, socioeconomic, political processes relevant analyzing global impacts a European region. In Mountland, an integrative approach was applied, combining methods from economics natural sciences analyze functioning holistic human-environment system perspective. general, surveys, experiments, model revealed that socioeconomic changes are likely increase vulnerability analyzed. regard following characteristics coupled systems as central our areas regions: thresholds, heterogeneity, trade-offs, feedback. Our suggest institutional framework should be strengthened way better addresses characteristics, allowing (1) more approaches, (2) network-oriented management steering integrate local stakeholders, (3) enhanced building decrease identified elements process. Further, maintain support future regions, making also focus project-oriented, cross-sectoral policies spatial planning coordination instrument land use general.
