摘要: Species-specific viruses are being genetically engineered to produce contraceptive biological controls for pest animals such as mice, rabbits and foxes. The virus vaccines intended trigger an autoimmune response in the target that interferes with their fertility a process termed virally vectored immunocontraception. Laboratory experiments have shown high levels of infertility can be induced mice infected recombinant murine cytomegalovirus ectromelia expressing reproductive antigens well using myxoma vectors. strategies used deliver species-specific immunocontraceptive free-living wildlife presented this review. Discussion includes coverage likely safety proposed implications approach control other species.
