Itraconazole treatment of phaeohyphomycosis

摘要: Nineteen patients with phaeohyphomycosis were treated itraconazole. Of these, 17 assessable for clinical outcome. two had received no prior therapy, five failed amphotericin B four ketoconazole or miconazole and both azole therapy. One patient only surgical intervention. Fungi of seven different genera caused disease the skin in nine patients, soft tissue nine, sinuses eight, bone five, joints two, lungs two. Itraconazole was given dosages ranging from 50 to 600 mg/day 1 48 months. Clinical improvement remission occurred patients. Two have stabilization disease. Six treatment, one a relapse after initially successful treatment. appears be highly effective some phaeohyphomycosis, including refractory other antifungal agents.
