摘要: Additively Manufactured (AM) parts exhibit orthotropic behavior when loaded as a result of the layer-by-layer assembly commonly utilized. While previous authors have studied effect layer orientation on tensile, flexural, and impact response AM parts, fracture is not well established. Here we explore properties Acrylonitrile-Butadiene-Styrene (ABS) materials fabricated through Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF) process. Critical toughness values Single Edge Notch Bend (SENB) specimens with pre-crack oriented either parallel or perpendicular to direction were compared. Results show that inter-laminar (fracture between layers) approximately one order magnitude lower than cross-laminar similarly manufactured parts. Contrasting brittle ductile observed for crack propagation, respectively, demonstrating elastic-plastic ABS governed by layers respect propagation.
