Experimental Studies on Damage Growth in Composites under Dynamic Loads

摘要: Experimental investigations have been carried out to study the dynamic damage growth in glass/polyester composites. Detonation of two PETN explosive charges on a modified single edge notch (MSEN) specimen provides load form planar tensile wave. High speed photography is used record events. The results show that grows perpendicular loading direction, similar static growth; zone splits analogous crack branching unreinforced polyester. propagation velocity composite higher than polyester resin. area at an average rate 4.3 m2/sec. Static experiments about 4 percent total energy spent fiber-matrix interface debonding. under loads much loads.
