摘要: The locations of various ice core drilling sites at Greenland and Antarctica are described. Temperature data from given in detail. It is shown that several provide similar data, which indicates the represent regional climate data. A comparison records provides some interesting relationships not fully understood. show large numbers sharp, relatively sudden changes climate. number theories have evolved partly explain these changes. High elevation sheets, particularly Tibet, also provided on past climates. was until processing cores 1990s it discovered CO2 concentration dropped to extremely low levels (less than 200 ppm) during latter phases Ice Ages. With this discovery, many scientists attempted why occurred, but only with limited success. There ample evidence reaches roughly 280 ppm Interglacials, drops off progress an Age, typically over 70,000–90,000 years. During last 10,000 years Age (“glacial maximum”) about 190 ppm. Quite a studies cycle none entirely satisfactory. generated quite bit dust entrained ice. Chapter 11 expands topic.
