摘要: Publisher Summary This chapter discusses Xenopus oocytes, which is a system for expression cloning and structure–function studies of ion channels receptors. The advantages the oocyte compared to other systems are severalfold. An individual frog egg fairly large (0.5–1.0 mm in diameter); therefore, it can be handled with relative ease. Endogenous receptors mainly expressed layers follicular cells surrounding vitellin membrane oocyte. Because removed before or after microinjection cRNA, possible express channel receptor interest denuded oocytes without signal interference endogenously gene products. not only possesses necessary machinery correct translation foreign mRNAs but, many instances, capable also carrying out posttranslational modifications that may needed proper function an oocyte-expressed protein. unique characteristics made legions genes.
