Women’s views on the use of decision aids for decision making about the method of delivery following a previous caesarean section: qualitative interview study

摘要: Objective  To obtain the views of women on their experiences decision making about method delivery following a previous caesarean section and role aids in this process. Design  Qualitative study nested within randomised controlled trial, using repeat semi-structured interviews conducted pre- postnatally. Data were analysed framework approach. Setting  Three maternity units south-west England Scotland. Sample  Purposive sample 30 participating trial two for mode next (Decision Aids Mode Delivery). Results  Thirty interviewed during pregnancy experience 22 re-interviewed Key themes were: reducing decisional conflict uncertainty pregnancy; impact knowledge anxiety; relationship between prior preferences, decisions actual outcome; mediating aids. Conclusions  Women value some form structured information to help reduce conflict. Information provision needs be relevant individual needs. Decision analysis may reconcile preferences delivery.
