摘要: Two populations of olivocochlear (OC) neurons have been identified in the gerbil brain stem on basis differential labeling patterns 3H-D-aspartic acid (D-ASP) and wheatgerm agglutinin-horseradish peroxidase conjugate (WGA/HRP) from cochlear perilymph. While both are capable uptake retrograde WGA/HRP, one population accumulates retrogradely transports D-ASP (D-ASP OC neurons) other does not (non-D-ASP neurons). found or near lateral superior olive, small size, receive very few synaptic contacts. The vast majority these synapses contain small, mildly pleomorphic vesicles with scattered dense core vesicles. Synapses distinctly larger also observed. These possess all features common to system. Non-D-ASP primarily ventral nucleus trapezoid body, as well area between medial olive body. greater numbers types contacts than those neurons. 2 most non-D-ASP axosomatic ones containing similar seen neurons, axodendritic large, round Much less frequently observed predominantly flat ultrastructural correspond described for
