摘要: Outdoor water use is a key component in arid city systems for achieving sustainable and ensuring security. Using evapotranspiration (ET) calculations as proxy outdoor consumption, the objectives of this research are to quantify consumption different land cover types, compare spatio-temporal variation between drought wet years. An energy balance model was applied Landsat 5 TM time series images estimate daily seasonal ET Central Arizona Phoenix Long-Term Ecological Research region (CAP-LTER). Modeled estimations were correlated with data 49 parks within CAP-LTER showed good agreement (r2 = 0.77), indicating effectiveness capture variations across park consumption. Seasonally, active agriculture shows high (>500 mm) both dry conditions, while desert urban types experienced lower during (<300 mm). Within locales CAP-LTER, xeric neighborhoods show significant differences from year year, mesic retain their values (400–500 drought, implying considerable irrigation sustain greenness. Considering potentially limiting availability future due large population increases threat warming drying climate, maintaining water-consuming, irrigated landscapes challenges practices conservation need provide amenities area enhancing quality life.
