摘要: We wished to determine the effectiveness of submaximal doses cholestyramine and psyllium given in combination reversing dietary-induced hypercholesterolemia Golden Syrian hamsters, investigate mechanism or mechanisms action through which these agents together decrease plasma low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) levels this model. For 30 days, male hamsters were fed a cholesterol-rich cereal-based diet containing either dose (1% wt/wt) alone with (either 2 4%), high (3%) alone. Although greatest cholesterol-reducing was achieved 3% resin alone, animals one third as much combined (4%) LDL-C production decreased from 288 +/- 15 187 17 micrograms/h per 100 g body weight, suppression LDL-receptor activity almost fully reversed, reduced 90 8 41 5 mg/dl, hepatic content 17.1 1.9 2.4 0.1 mg/g. In group that received 1% 60 3 mg/dl 7.2 0.6 mg/g, respectively. As compared those both manifested higher rates fecal bile acid excretion lower intestinal absorption. A significant cholesterol-lowering benefit can be derived using nonsystemic at lower, more tolerable doses.
