摘要: Summary Cystic fibrosis (CF) is an illness associated with high healthcare utilization and costs, even when compared to other chronic illnesses. In a variety of medical populations, depression has been found be lower adherence poorer outcomes. The current study retrospective chart review matched set 40 patients CF, half without depressive disorder diagnosis. Participants were on the basis their age, gender lung function, in terms severity (lung function weight), adherence, during year prior following diagnosis comparable time period for non-depressed group. Results show association between BMI, only depressed group showing significant decreases (from mean BMI z-score −0.48 −1.04). Depression was also strongly greater costs relative those comparably medically ill controls, that youth hospitalized at over three times rate youth, more than four higher (mean number admissions per 4.00 vs. 1.20 group; annual $280,000 $60,116 non-depressed).
