摘要: Oxide superlattices and microstructures hold the promise for creating a new class of devices with unprecedented functionalities. Density-functional studies recently fabricated, lattice-matched perovskite titanates (SrTiO3)n/(LaTiO3)m reveal classic wedge-shaped potential well monolayer (m = 1) structure, originating from Coulomb two-dimensional charged La sheet. The in turn confines electrons Airy-function-localized states. Magnetism is suppressed while structures thicker LaTiO3 part, bulk antiferromagnetism recovered, narrow transition region separating magnetic nonmagnetic SrTiO3.
