摘要: Fetal and neonatal vitamin A deficiency exhibits protean clinical manifestations, which reflect the importance of in cell cycle fate, embryogenesis, organogenesis. The metabolism nuclear signaling roles derivatives are still to be fully elucidated. Key ophthalmologic manifestations include microcornea, Bitot spots, xerophthalmia, anterior posterior segment malformations. Historically, maternal hypovitaminosis secondary nutritional deficiencies has been prevalent developing world; however, consequent malformation syndromes being reported with increasing frequency following gastric bypass surgery for morbid obesity. This chapter discusses metabolism, multisystem associated perturbations homeostasis biosynthesis, role ocular development.
