摘要: BACKGROUND: IGFBP-3 is a multifunctional protein that inhibits growth and induces apoptosis of cancer cells. Hypermethylation the promoter represses expression gene. We undertook this study to assess impact methylation on survival early stage gastric patients. METHODS: Of 482 tissue samples from patients who underwent curative surgery, was tested in 138 with IB/II cancer. also analyzed 26 cell lines. evaluated by methylation-specific polymerase chain reaction (MethyLight). Statistical analyses, all two-sided, were performed investigate prognostic effects status various clinical parameters. RESULTS: observed (19%) Clinicopathological factors such as age, Lauren classification, sex, tumor infiltration, lymph node metastasis, histologic grade did not show statistically significant association promoter. Patients hypermethylated had similar 8-year disease-free compared those without (73% vs 75%, P = .78). In subgroup females, but males, seemed have poorer prognosis for DFS OS subset (8-year DFS: 55.6% 71.6%, .3694 overall survival: 68.4%, .491, respectively) even no statistical significance. CONCLUSIONS: The measured proposed modest role predicting specific subgroups early-stage undergo surgery. However, needs further investigation.
