摘要: Abstract Results of numerical simulations large-scale platform margin collapses along the edge Cretaceous Maiella (Central Apennines) are presented, adding a new contribution to understanding role and quantification various factors that control triggering these phenomena production breccias megabreccias. For this purpose, sophisticated code, widely used in recent contexts simulate overall mass movements deep gravity-driven deformation, is applied for first time an ancient system on scale several kilometres. The modelling carried out simplified attempt understand very complex phenomenon produced over long time-span. It tests whether perturbing causes model, acting together or separately, able activate such collapse, helps effects their variations. In particular, was considering both static (variations sea level) dynamic (seismic events without with fault formation) conditions combinations them. Variations level alone do not produce all observed but may certainly be predisposing element. Seismic shock show fracturing shear stresses concentrated margin, representing most sensitive vulnerable area. Earthquake swarms associated active likely means collapses, as those occurring during Early Maiella.
