摘要: The Eastern woodchuck, Marmota monax, is in the family Sciuridae of order Rodentia. Common names include groundhog, whistle-pig, and chuck. Natural distribution includes Midwestern United States, Southeastern Alaska, Southern Canada. woodchuck a large, burrow- digging animal with thickset body, short legs, long claws, broad flat head, almost no neck, small, round ears, short, hairy tail. Adults captivity reach an average body size 3–5 kg males, 2.5–5 kg females. Colors vary from grizzly gray-brown to reddish, darker head black feet. Black as well white (presumably albino) woodchucks have been reported. fur consists soft dense undercoat longer, coarse upper fur.
