摘要: In rats and primates, the central nucleus of amygdala (CeN) is most known for its role in responses to fear stimuli. Recent evidence also shows that CeN required directing attention behaviors when salience competing stimuli flux. To examine how information flows through this key output region primate amygdala, we first placed small injections retrograde tracers into subdivisions Old world examined inputs from specific amygdaloid nuclei. The amygdalostriatal area interstitial posterior limb anterior commissure (IPAC) were distinguished using histochemical markers, projections these regions described. As expected, basal accessory are main afferent connections transition zones. medial subdivision (CeM) receives a significantly stronger input all compared lateral core (CeLcn). corticoamygdaloid zone (a confluence parvicellular nucleus, paralaminar sulcal periamygdaloid cortex) provides CeLcn. IPAC can be divided subregions, receive with differential according subdivision. piriform cortex two important sensory interfaces, send sum, CeM broad entire whereas CeLcn more restricted relatively undifferentiated region. Like CeN, zones their however, lack distinguishing features.
