摘要: The article examines the structure of margo portion bordered pit membrane in loblolly pine (Pinus taeda L.) unaltered by drying stresses and describes effect aspiration on microstructure. Split radial sections were dried from either water, methanol or pentane; those pentane passed through methanol, acetone pentane. Methanol specimens removed before solvent exchange with acetone. Over 4 days, 5 changes each liquid used. Following pentane, oven at 65°C for 15 minutes stored a dessicator. Replicas prepared electron microscopy direct carbon method chromium applied 45° shadowing. A primary wall type was detected outermost margo. density size openings varies considerably between pits. aspirated pits may be overestimated because fine microfibril strands are difficult to detect. torus within central area softwood confirmed (drying propylene oxide, Epon 812). Aspiration has little structure.
