摘要: The CMS collaboration considers upgrading the muon forward region which is particularly affected by high-luminosity conditions at LHC. proposal involves Gas Electron Multiplier (GEM) chambers, are able to handle extreme particle rates expected in this along with a high spatial resolution. This allows combine tracking and triggering capabilities, will improve High Level Trigger, identification track reconstruction. Intense R&D has been going on since 2009 it lead development of several GEM prototypes associated detector electronics. These have subjected extensive tests laboratory test beams CERN Super Proton Synchrotron (SPS). contribution review status upgrade project GEMs its impact performance.
